Students from Turnbull High School in Bishopriggs are running sessions next week to demonstrate how young people can successfully be heard in the Scottish Parliament.
The students are taking part in the Parliament’s Connect! Peer Education sessions, working with the Scottish Youth Parliament and the Volunteer Centre East Dunbartonshire.
The Connect! sessions are youth-led workshops for groups of five or six young people who want to raise issues with the Parliament but are unsure how to go about it. The practical workshops include information on activities such as raising a petition, using local campaigning or working with local MSPs.
It also coincides with the display of the Parliament’s ‘Moving Stories’ exhibition at Cumbernauld College, which includes 10 stories about people from across Scotland who used the parliament to achieve change.
Peer education sessions are for local groups with members aged 16-25 years. These sessions will take place on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 October between 6pm and 7.30pm at the Kirkintilloch campus of Cumbernauld College and are completely free. (Refreshments provided).
