Spotlight on Education and Lifelong Learning at International Women’s Day

Women from across Scotland will gather together at the Scottish Parliament to discuss the importance of education and lifelong learning.

The event is being held to mark International Women’s Day which aims to celebrate women’s achievements and increase the participation and involvement of women in influencing policy development.

Deputy Presiding Officer, Elaine Smith MSP said:

“The Scottish Parliament is delighted to once again be involved with International Women’s Day. This forum helps bring women from different communities together in their Parliament to discuss issues which affect them and their everyday lives.

“The theme this year of education and lifelong learning is vital in making a difference to the lives of women across the globe. It can remove barriers and create opportunities which change lives.  This occasion provides a wonderful opportunity for us to reflect on the achievements to date and the work still to be done.”

The event, which is being organised by the Scottish Women’s Convention, will take place on Saturday 10 March and will see a diverse range of women come to the Scottish Parliament. They will hear from a range of speakers including Johann Lamont MSP and Ruth Davidson MSP.
