The year at the Scottish Parliament

Primary school pupils take part in an educational visit to the Scottish Parliament.This year, Holyrood welcomed 494 school visits, involving 13,077 pupils.  Parliament staff delivered 703 sessions in local communities across Scotland, attended by 17,626 pupils. It was also the first year for the Parliament Day initiative, which took place in Hawick on 5 November 2012.

The shop at the Parliament sold more than 5,000 postcards, 1,000 guidebooks, 2,400 Scottish Parliament tartan pens and more than 1,000 bars of tablet.

Meanwhile, 345,021 visitors came through the doors to explore the Parliament building, watch Parliamentary business, take part in an event or meet with MSPs. Of these, just fewer than 23,000 took a free public guided tour.
