08.11.2013

This Sunday, many people will gather at services to mark Remembrance Day ahead of the 2 minute silence observed on Monday 11 November at 11am. Poppy Scotland, which runs the annual Poppy Appeal in Scotland, is the only charity supported by the Scottish Parliament. The Presiding Officer, the Rt Hon Tricia Marwick MSP, will lay a wreath on behalf of the Scottish Parliament at the Royal British Legion Scotland's Edinburgh Parade and Service of Remembrance on Sunday at Edinburgh City Chambers. Following this, she will attend the church service at St Giles Cathedral.

On Monday, at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the Two Minute Silence is observed across the Scottish Parliament building, with wreaths in the Main Hall and Garden Lobby where MSPs, staff and visitors may choose to gather to pause in remembrance for all those who have suffered and died in the service of their country and all those who mourn them..
